The Internal Revenue Service is now accepting most tax returns for individuals as of January 30th. However, there will be some delays related to certain forms. In a recently issued statement from the IRS, anyone claiming a credit on form 8863 (the American Opportunity Tax Credit and the Lifetime Learning Credit) will be able to file their return by mid-February. In our office, we are monitoring all of our tax returns and will e-file eligible completed tax returns as soon as the IRS allows.
According to the IRS, they issued more than 9 out of 10 refunds to taxpayers in less than 21 days last year. The same results are expected in 2013. Even though the IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days, it’s possible your tax return may require additional review and take longer. You can check your refund online by visiting our website. Just select “My Refund” from the menu options. We provide links to the Federal, Kansas and Missouri online refund sites as well as Oklahoma contact information.
